Elliptical Galaxies
- Structure: Shaped like an elongated sphere or ellipsoid. They lack the distinct structure of spiral arms and are composed mainly of older, red stars.
- Appearance: Can range from nearly spherical (E0) to elongated (E7).
- Giant Elliptical Galaxies: Extremely large and contain a vast number of stars. Example: Messier 87 (M87).
- Dwarf Elliptical Galaxies: Smaller and less luminous than giant ellipticals. Example: The Fornax Dwarf.
